OAS California State Championship Set Against the Backdrop of Archery Excellence

CHULA VISTA, Calif. – More than 250 student-athletes took part in the 2025 USA Archery OAS California State Championship on Saturday, at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence in California, which is the venue for the third of four events in the USAT Qualifier Series, the SoCal Showdown.

The Olympic Archery in the Schools (OAS) program introduces Olympic-style archery to middle and high school students through a unique competition format inspired by the Olympic Games.

Beaumont High School were gold medalists in High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys, as well as High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Girls.

San Gorgonio Middle School were dominant in the middle school team competition, only denied a clean sweep by Warner Middle School, who won Middle School Varsity Boys.

Individual winners in the Olympic Rounds included Dexter Woolridge (Varsity Boys) from Beaumont High School, though 16th seed Dominic Davis (Wiseburn/Da Vinci) performed well to take silver. At High School Varsity Girls level, gold was claimed by top seed Angela Hines (High Tech High Point Loma). Isaiah Nol (Mountain View Middle School) took gold in the Middle School Varsity Boys category, with Tory Weaver (Magnolia Science Academy) winning Middle School Varsity Girls.

Sarah Nitsos is Head Coach of the Boys and Girls Archery Program at Wiseburn/Da Vinci. She said, “Olympic Archery in Schools has become a transformative force in our school community, offering students of all backgrounds and ability levels - whether they’ve shot for years or are just picking up a bow - a chance to thrive.

"From highly athletic students to those who never saw themselves in traditional sports, archery provides a new pathway to compete, grow, and belong. With structured events like regionals, state, and nationals, our athletes gain a real sense of pride and legitimacy in their efforts. Wiseburn/Da Vinci Archery has become a flagship program - one that embraces diversity, champions inclusion, and gives students a place to call home.”

The OAS National Championship takes place on May 10, hosted by the Easton Archery Center of Excellence in Chula Vista and the Easton Newberry Archery Center in Florida. All archers in the program are ranked nationally within their divisions and one school from each division will earn the National Champion title.

USA Archery assumed the management of the Olympic Archery in the Schools (OAS) program, formerly operated by the Easton Foundations, back in February.

USA Archery has a long-standing commitment to developing youth participation in the sport. USAA’s programs, such as Explore Archery and the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD), are widely recognized for their success in fostering archery’s growth through youth clubs across the country.
