Michigan S3DA recently held its Indoor State Championship at the Demmer Center on the campus of Michigan State University. This event was record-breaking, with 147 archers from S3DA teams across Michigan participating.
Archers came well-prepared after a season of rigorous practices and tournaments. The beauty of archery extends beyond the range; it’s also seen in the camaraderie among archers. One special moment was when Avery Pitch cheered on her teammate, saying, “Nice round Madi!” as Madi came off the range with a big smile after shooting a nice group. It was heartwarming to see older archers from different teams huddling together and supporting each other.
The day’s excitement peaked during two intense shoot-offs on the Eagle range. Jacob Every faced off against Liam Wilson, and Landon Ames competed against Konnar Koshar. Despite their younger ages, these Eagle archers, ranging from nine to eleven years old, displayed remarkable talent and sportsmanship. The battle for third place was particularly thrilling, with Konnar Koshar narrowly edging out Landson Ames on the final arrow.
Michigan S3DA State Coordinator, Cara Waite, praised the event, saying, “This tournament was great! The Demmer Center was ready for us when we arrived. The archers came out and did what they do best. It was just an amazing day of archery. We have already started to gear up for the outdoor season that will start shortly after Indoor Nationals. All of Michigan is looking forward to that.”
Michigan S3DA extends heartfelt thanks to all the parents, coaches, and archery supporters in Michigan who invest in youth archery programs and encourage young archers to be the best they can be.
