Hunter and bowhunter education field day for online students offered in Malta March 29

Hunter and bowhunter education field day for online students offered in Malta March 29

MALTA- A Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks hunter and bowhunter education field day for online students has been set for Malta at the Malta Event Center.

  • Hunter education field day for online students: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Bowhunter education field day for online students: 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

Students could sign up for either or both field days. This is a great opportunity for students to become certified to participate in the application for either-sex elk or special deer permits before the April 1 deadline. Other courses MAY be offered a later date.

Students NEED to take the online course first:

Consistent with FWP’s licensing laws, students who are currently 11 and who will turn 12 by Jan. 16 of the current license year may take the online courses and attend the requisite field day. There is a separate online course for hunter and bowhunter certification. The online courses (course fees apply) need to be completed before signing up for a field day. The online courses each take around 4-5 hours to complete. Adults 18 and older may take the field day to gain hands-on experience, though it is not required.

Registration:

Students must be registered prior to attending a field day. To find a class and register, or to take the online course, go to fwp.mt.gov/education/hunter-education. More information about the class, location, and other details will be on the registration page. Make sure to print, read and sign any necessary paperwork ahead of the class.
