TEAM DESCALIN NAMED WINNER WITH TOP 10 QUALIFYING FOR ULTIMATE BOWFISHING CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
EVANSVILLE, IN (July 18, 2017) – Cajun Bowfishing hosted a record turnout at its third annual Cajun 8 Limited Bowfishing Tournament Saturday July 15 through Sunday, July 16 at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville, Indiana. The top 10 finishers earned a berth to the Ultimate Bowfishing Championship Tournament at Bass Pro Shops on July 29.
Seventy-six teams competed from 10 different states including Kentucky, South Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio, Georgia, and West Virginia.
"Bowfishing is a fun, adrenaline filled sport and the turnout for this year's Cajun 8 is strong evidence that this category is on the rise," says Dave Parker, Bear Archery General Manager. We are pleased and grateful to partner with Bass Pro Shops as a qualifying event for its Ultimate Bowfishing Champion."
Team Descalin won the Cajun 8 Limited with a total of 290.2 pounds of fish. The team included captain Sawyer York and shooters Nathan Arant, Travis Spiceland, and Ryan Devine of Gilbertsville, Kentucky. The team was awarded $10,000 for first place and was granted an additional $1,500 as a Cajun bonus. This bonus was given to the top three finishers' team members who shot either a Cajun Suckerpunch bow and/or a Cajun bottle reel during the tournament. The bonus was based on $250 per bow, up to 4 bows, and $250 per reel, up to 4 reels for $2,000 max.
The Cajun Suckerpunch is a lightweight, perfectly balanced bowfishing bow with 50-lb. peak draw weight for smooth, easy shooting and it delivered in a demonstrative way for Team Descalin in securing the win. Paired with the Cajun Winch, this bowfishing reel features a revolutionary design for one-handed operation and the durability to bring in the heaviest of fish night after night.
The other nine qualifying teams included Lucky Strike Bowfishing, Big Ole Mess, Taking Out The Trash, Bad Intentions, Team Whackem & Stackem, End of the Line, Center Scale Bowfishing, Midnight Scale Bowfishing, Midnight Mayhem, and Team WTF.
