Residents of Parma Heights, Parma and Seven Hills will be voting on an amendment to permit deer hunting with archery equipment, including crossbows in their cities March 15.
Officials in all three cities have been grappling for years to deal with the deer population and with methods to safely cull the animals. Voters in Broadview Heights, Strongsville and North Royalton will also be voting to allow hunting deer with crossbow or hand-drawn bow.
The amendment that will be on the ballot in Parma Heights states: "Shall council amend a hunting prohibited ordinance to permit the limited hunting of white-tailed deer by crossbow or longbow by licensed individuals conducted from elevated platforms under terms and conditions established by the State of Ohio, the City of Parma Heights and under the supervision of the Parma Heights police department."
