The City of West Des Moines is excited to announce that construction will begin this fall on the Raccoon River Park Archery Facility. A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for Monday, September 23, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in Raccoon River Park, 2500 Grand Avenue. The public is invited to attend.
The Archery Facility will be the first of its kind in Iowa, and only two others like it exist in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The facility will be open to the public for use in the spring of 2014.
Generous funding for the $173,000 project has been provided by the following: Polk County Community Development Grant Program, Iowa Department of Natural Resources Shooting Sports Grant Program, West Des Moines Community Enrichment Foundation, and the City of West Des Moines.
