Blackhawk Bowhunters Host Indiana S3DA Indoor Regional

Williamsburg, KY – Blackhawk Bowhunters, one of the largest archery clubs in Southern Indiana, recently hosted the final Indiana S3DA Indoor Regional for the 2025 competition season. The event drew archers from five different S3DA teams, as they came together to compete and highlight their skills. Notably, three archers – Liam Baker, Madilyn Patton, and Kade Weidenbenner achieved scores of 150.

The camaraderie among the archers was evident, as many have formed lasting friendships over the years. Regardless of team affiliation, the archers cheered each other on. Range officials paired two older archers with two younger ones on each bale, with one older and one younger archer calling arrows and the other two keeping the scorecards. This setup provided a great learning opportunity for the younger archers.

Indiana S3DA archers have demonstrated remarkable dedication and improvement throughout the season. Many of the archers set personal goals to achieve for each tournament. Tate Gastineau from Shooters Archery in Linton, Indiana, challenged herself this season by switching to a 5-spot target. “I have been doing archery for a few years now and I wanted to give it a try. It turns out I am pretty good at the 5-spot,” said Tate, who finished in 2nd place in the Female Eagle Pins division.

Ethan Grayson of Gun World Aces in Corydon, Indiana, is in his first season of archery. His mother found a brand-new bow for $20 at a garage sale, and Ethan has been dedicated to attending every practice. His goal for the day was to beat his previous regional score, and he proudly achieved this by surpassing his personal best by 9 points and doubling his number of X’s.

The growth of Southern Indiana’s archery teams this season has been impressive. Access to local clubs like Blackhawk Bowhunters, where youth can come together to learn and compete, is crucial for the sport’s success. The increasing interest in archery across the state is a testament to the dedication of these young athletes and their coaches.

Indiana S3DA extends its gratitude to Blackhawk Bowhunters for hosting this regional event. Indiana S3DA staff looks forward to seeing what the future holds for these talented archers as well as newcomers.
