Williamsburg, KY – Wisconsin S3DA hosted their Indoor State Championship at the Fond Du Lac Expo Center in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. With more than 500 spectators in attendance, 151 archers from 17 clubs and teams from across the state came together to compete for awards and scholarships. This Indoor Championship gained more than 60 archers compared to the 2019 Wisconsin State Championship.
Archers that competed at the Indoor State event took the 1st step in the WI S3DA conservation scholarship program. To qualify for the scholarship, archers are required to shoot all three state events and write an essay about a conservation project they have or are working on. There was also an Explore Bowfishing station at the event that allowed archers and parents to shoot at a life-sized 3-D fish in a tank filled with water, from an elevated position.
Many of the Wisconsin S3DA archers commented on the event and were extremely pleased with their performances. One fourth grader stated that she had a blast and could not wait till the next event. Another student commented that although they struggled with their shooting, they still had a lot of fun with their friends and family.
WI S3DA State Coordinator, Dan Schroeder stated, “Our Wisconsin S3DA State Indoor Championship was a huge success, not only with the number of archers but also with the amazing sportsmanship and support everyone showed. The WI S3DA Board of Directors did an amazing job of coordinating volunteers, helping with range set-up, registration and all that goes into an event like this. We are excited at the growth of the program and the addition of new clubs and teams almost weekly here in Wisconsin!”
