Jack and Sharon Wallace, German Precision Optics (GPO) USA-sponsored husband-and-wife 3-D archers, both took home top honors at the International Bowhunting Organization’s (IBO) Spring Nationals this past weekend in Wilmore, KY. This tournament counts as part of the Shooter of the Year award and is the last stop before the IBO National Championship series that begins next month.

Scholastic 3-D Archery recently held their largest event ever with record participation of nearly 1,600 registered archers. The 6th annual Indoor National Championship was scheduled to be held at the Owensboro Convention Center in Owensboro, Kentucky the first weekend of March. However, with the winter resurgence of COVID cases, S3DA made the decision early to host the National Championship in a “virtual” format
Elimination matches at the United States Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series opener today were nothing short of exciting; from epic comebacks, underdog upsets and great matchups, the competition was heated and intense.
After a challenging 2020, this year brings full events, a jam-packed calendar and the return of many major international competitions. Starting the United States Archery Team (USAT) Qualifier Series after a one-year hiatus, the Arizona Cup also hosts the first stage of the World Archery Championships – U.S. Team Trials, with today’s qualification round counting for both events.
The National Field Archery Association’s (NFAA) state organization known as the Oklahoma State Archery Association (OSAA) hosted their State Championship in conjunction with the Oklahoma S3DA program at Arrowhead Archery Pro Shop in Del City, Oklahoma. Oklahoma S3DA Hosts Indoor State Championship
In compliance with the CDC guidelines, Kentucky S3DA staff decided it would be in everyone’s best interests to host the annual Indoor State Championship at six different locations across the state. With various venues being offered, more archers had the opportunity to participate, and Kentucky families had a shorter traveling distance from their homes.
Bowtech pro shooter Tim Gillingham finished in first place at the USAT Arizona Cup while setting a new 50-Meter world record with a score of 1402, topping the previous record of 1399.
Tennessee S3DA held their annual Indoor State Championship on February 19th and 20th at the Mid Tennessee Expo Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Over 200 archers from 20 S3DA teams across the state competed in this year’s event. In addition to competing for the title of State Champion, 137 archers qualified to compete for the coveted Indoor Shooter of the Year. Shooter of the Year is awarded to the archer in each division who has the highest combined score from three Indoor Regionals plus their score from the State Championship.
USA Archery kicked off the first Regional Elite Development (RED) Camps of the year. The first camp of the year in each region is also the selection event for the RED National Camp. The top two female recurve, male recurve, female compound and male compound archers are selected to attend the National Camp later this year. The National Camp is an exclusive opportunity to train at the Easton Archery Center of Excellence with the National Head Coaching Staff, RED Coaches and other subject matter experts and the camp is designed to help the highest performing athletes elevate their training even further.
Gold Tip is celebrating big wins at the ASA Foley Archery Tournament after team members took home five podium finishes in the Pro Division at the highly contested ASA Pro/Am Tour 3-D match.
Winning W1 women’s gold and recurve women’s silver at the Para Pan American Championships, Lia Coryell and Emma Rose Ravish also secured two quota places for Team USA at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
As we gear up for the upcoming outdoor season, there are several important changes to USA Archery selection and qualification procedures, policies and event schedules. USA Archery’s Board of Directors has approved updates to the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials – Archery, 2020 U.S. Paralympic Trials – Archery, and the 2022 World Archery Para Championship Selection Procedures to comply with evolving COVID-19 protocols. Jon Munley, Palmyra Sportsmen’s Association Head Coach and Event Organizer was very excited to be the host facility for the Pennsylvania S3DA Indoor Target State Championship. Many archers filled the facility to shoot their respective lines throughout the day.
The Pennsylvania S3DA program has set a goal to increase student membership as well as participation at events statewide. On February 13th, 2021, the program took a step in that direction when four teams met at the Southeastern Indoor Regional hosted by the Reading Archery Club. Pennsylvania S3DA State Coordinator,
Hawthorne Christian Academy hosted the 2021 South Carolina S3DA Indoor State Championship with ninety-six archers from eleven S3DA teams across the state. South Carolina State Coordinator, Sheila Tadlock has done a tremendous job connecting with archery shops, creating a strong group of outreach staff, and urging people to join S3DA.
The mission of the Scholastic 3-D Archery program and the purpose of the Lewis & Clark Archery club are very similar as both wish to guide youth in archery while educating members and encouraging participation in bowhunting. It was only fitting that the Lewis & Clark Archery Club hosted the inaugural Montana S3DA Indoor State Championship at the Buffalo Jump Archery Pro Shop Indoor range in Helena, Montana.
In order to comply with the local COVID guidelines, Michigan S3DA hosted the Indoor State Championship at Rising Phoenix in Troy, Michigan and Central Michigan Sportsman’s Club in Stanton, Michigan..”
Tennessee S3DA held their 8th Indoor Regional of the 2021 competition season at Crossroads Archery in Knoxville, Tennessee. Although there are still COVID restrictions in place in Knox County, approximately fifty archers from eleven teams entered the facility throughout the day to compete and qualify for the 2021 TN S3DA State Championship.
This past weekend marked the start to the 2021 3D season at the ASA in Foley, AL and Bowtech pro shooter Tim Gillingham didn’t hold back the entire weekend. Tim ended the weekend with a well-deserved first place finish using his Reckoning 38.
