Teresa ‘Tink’ Wallace, who represented the USA on the world stage in compound open women for almost a decade, has sadly passed away at the age of 60.

Teresa, who was a regular member of the United States Archery team (USAT), began archery for fun around 20 years ago after friends from a wheelchair basketball league suggested going to a nearby archery shop, where she met Dr. Nancey Tsai, a rehabilitation physician and a competitive archer. Dr. Tsai would eventually become Teresa’s coach.

‘Tink’, as she was known, first took up competitive archery in 2014 and made her international debut a year later. The para archer from South Carolina went on to feature at four World Archery Para Championships. She also won individual gold and team bronze at the 2018 Pan American Outdoor Championships.

Initially, Teresa shot left-handed. She switched to right-handed in early 2015 due to a shoulder injury and later that year was sporting the colors of the USA at the World Archery Para Championships in Germany.

At the 2017 World Archery Para Championships in China, she was part of the compound women open team including Lisa Coryell and Martha Chavez which set a Record of the Americas in a 24-arrow match at 50 meters, scoring 211 points - a record which still stands today!

Tributes have been pouring in for Teresa, who inspired so many with her strength, courage, kindness and determination. A dear friend to many, her passing will be felt by all within the archery community.
